Abstract
This research work is focused on‘’ Political leadership and development’’. The major objective of the work is to examine the reason why Nigeria is yet to be ranked among the developed countries of the world is its leadership orientation. Efforts were made at looking into the state of the nation where poverty, unemployment of graduate, dilapidated social structures and economic insufficiency are the order of the day. Primary and secondary methods were used in collecting data.  Structured questionnaires were administered to three hundred and seventy respondents. The respondents were selected at random from each state of the country. The findings revealed that Nigeria needs a stable political system with truly committed, selfless, dedicated, patriotic and nationalistic leadership. A leader that transcends ethnic or tribal sentiment sectionalism, segregation and discrimination....
