Abstract
This paper studies the Comparative Study of the Effectiveness of Traditional and Modern Means of Communication in Rural Areas, using Ohaji/Egbema Council as a case study. A sample of 100 respondents was selected from the total population of 400 people, using the sample size. This technique was used purposely because the questionnaires were to be issued to those who can read and write. The researchers applied the survey method to get the views and opinions of the respondents it was found that both traditional and modern systems of communication were actually very impactive means of communication in the respective areas where they hold 8way but are each beset by certain handicaps. I, therefore, recommended a merger of both modern and traditional systems for a more effective development communication referred to as Trado-modern Communication. Government and Development planners should also learn how to apply both systems that are Trado-modern system to achieve more.
