Urban demographic trends expansion of an urban economic base. These generate unforeseen problems regarding the ongoing social process. Changes of population in Owerri metropolitan area, movements of population from agricultural and rural area to Owerri town, economic evolution caused such problems. Apart from psychological, social and cultural difficulties, other problems exist such as over-burdened sewer and water systems, urban sprawl, energy shortage, air pollution, garbage disposal, over-crowded environments, physical expansion and population explosion, slum growth, squalor poverty, water pollution, inadequate housing, loss of valuable resources.
