The objectives of the study among others were to find out the extent to which interpersonal communication influences the people of Obot Akara Local Government Area and to find out the effectiveness of interpersonal communication in the development processes of Obot Akara Local Government Area. A survey technique was considered appropriate using a systematic random procedure, to select a sample the population for the study was 148,281. A sample of 355 was drawn for the study. The instrument used for data collection was questionnaires. Findings revealed that interpersonal communication was the preferred mode of communication in Obot Akara Local Government Area for development to take place. Interpersonal communication should be used to encourage people in the community by meeting their needs.
