Some projects, however, have been delivered above the contract sum which was not bargained for at the inception stage of the project. This study leads to explain the various ways of data collection in keeping data bank, the factors that affect it plus its sources. However, it tries to examine the importance of the use of cost information in producing the cost estimate of a project. All the parts that make up the study were critically examined to ascertain how they affect project delivery drawn from previous research work within by great authors were evaluated. The study emphatically reviewed means of achieving effective project delivery in Nigeria, it covered an overview of future cost, source of cost information and uses of cost information and the use of cost index. Data was collected using structured questionnaires that were distributed randomly involving construction consultants, contractors and sub-contractors operating in Imo State Nigeria.
