They can be used to educate the public about biodiversity issues and protect endangered species away from pressures of habitat loss, starvation and predators. Research shows that although conservation education has urgent problems to address among adult populations, improving the long-term outlook for species conservation requires effective engagement with children. This study was based on the assessment of primary school pupils’ perception on conservation issues in the University of Ibadan Zoological garden, Ibadan and Olusegun Obasanjo Wildlife Park, Abeokuta. Instrument for data collection was questionnaire and it was randomly administered to three hundred respondents in the two zoos. The results showed that the majority of the respondents were female (58%) and the majority of them were of the age range 7-10 years (93.3%). Most of the pupils have an interest in watching these animals (2.88 ± 0.094) and the least mean was obtained on visitors’ perception of more zoos being established, 1.37 ± 0.038. The study concluded that the older the ages of the pupils, the better their perceptions of the zoo on conservation issues and the younger their ages, the lesser their perceptions of the zoo....Preview Download Preview +Other Forestry and Wildlife Management project topics and materials you might be interested in»Biodiversity conservation in Sanda Kyarimi Park Zoo»Predicting the effectiveness of wildlife education programme - a study of students attitiude and knowledge towards conservation in Lekki conservation centre»Assessment of students’ perceptions on conservation issues in two selected zoos»Modeling of soil parameters in Arakanga forest reserve, using spatial geo-statistical technique in GIS with inverse distance weighted to create digital surface of the soil parameters»Forestry and poverty alleviation»Assessment of desertification in Katsina state - case study of Katsina metropolis»Survey of wildlife species in Makurdi metropolis»Assessment of amenity trees in Makurdi, Otukpo and Okpokwu local government areas of Benue state
