Effective leadership is essential for organizational success, and there is a growing body of research on the relationship between leadership and employee performance. This study aims to contribute to this research by examining the challenges of leadership styles on employee performance and providing recommendations for effective leadership strategies. The study used a literature review approach, where relevant articles were identified and analyzed. The findings suggest that effective leadership can have a positive impact on employee performance, while poor leadership can lead to decreased job satisfaction and performance. Transformational leadership has been found to be particularly effective in promoting positive employee outcomes. However, autocratic leadership can have negative impacts on employee performance. The challenges of leadership styles on employee performance include lack of communication, micromanagement, and lack of support. Effective leadership strategies include promoting employee motivation, job satisfaction, and commitment to the organization. Leaders should also facilitate communication, collaboration, and innovation to achieve better organizational outcomes. Future research can continue to explore the complex relationship between leadership and employee performance, taking into account contextual factors such as the specific leadership style used, the organizational culture, and the characteristics of the employees.
