Abstract
The topic of this research is personnel performance and motivation in Nigerian Civil Service, a case study of Katsina State Civil Service Commission, the research work has analyzed how employee performance and motivation occur within the organization. What motivation is, and also find out how to motivate an employee with reference to Katsina State civil service commission. Conclusively, both primary and secondary types and sources of data were explored. In gathering primary data, questionnaires were administered to the respondents to fill out and return, while the secondary source include consultation of books, articles and other related materials. The total number of population is 100 from which the sample of 50% (50) was chosen using the Kreijcie and Morgan table and a simple percentage technique was employed to test the hypothesis. The study also utilizes a frequency table and simple percentage in data presentation and analysis and random sampling is used in testing the hypothesis. Based on the data collected, analyzed and hypothesis tested, the study reveals that there is a close relationship between the staff in the civil service commission. The researcher recommended that, the inspectors should inspect all the jobs done in the department and the government should ensure that all workers are doing the right job, and for every hard worker, a reward should be given to increase their performance in achieving the goals and objectives of an organization.           ...
