Faced with the problem of Lack of communication can lead to grave medical errors which have the potential to cause severe injury or unexpected patient death, the study was guided by the following objectives To find out if there is effective communication between health information officers and patients in the Federal Medical Centre, Nguru, Yobe State. Concerning methodology, the study employed descriptive and explanatory design, questionnaires in addition to library research were applied in order to collect data. Primary and secondary data sources were used and data was analyzed using statistical package which was presented in frequency tables and percentages. The study findings revealed there is no adequate communication between healthcare workers and patients and this gap causes more medical errors.
