Abstract
This research work was conducted to investigate the knowledge, attitude and prevention of anaemia in pregnant women attending Ibrahim Taiwo PHC in Ogbomoso-North Local Government Area of Oyo State. It informed the health officers on the understanding of pregnant women regarding anaemia. Among the objectives was to assess the knowledge of pregnant women on anaemia in pregnancy in Ibrahim Taiwo PHC, Ogbomoso North Local Government and to determine the attitude of pregnant women toward anaemia in pregnancy in Ibrahim Taiwo PHC, Ogbomoso North Local Government. Many medical and allied literatures were reviewed to develop more facts for the project work. This research use descriptive survey to sample pregnant women attending the health centers in the study area. A descriptive study was used to determine the knowledge, and attitude of the women, questionnaire is the instrument used to gather and analyze the data, 362 questionnaires were distributed out of which 350 were also retrieved. The findings reveal that the respondents considered anaemia as a medical disorder in pregnancy representing 210(70%), on the attitudes of the respondents, the study that attitudes of the women are influenced by several factors. The majority of the respondents advocated for mass health education of the community for knowledge about anaemia in pregnancy. In conclusion, recommendations were made that Pregnant women should adhere to the use of iron supplements to avoid pregnancy induced-anaemia, training and re-retraining of the health workers to enable them to meet the various needs of the pregnant women, Inter-sectoral participation to ensure all arms of government contribute their quota to ensure effective anaemia care for the pregnant women and overall wellbeing of the mother and the baby....
