It informed the Health officers on the understanding of mothers regarding food poisoning. Among the objectives were to determine causes of food poisoning among those under five (0-5 years) in Lafiayaman Primary Health Centre, Kacha, Kacha Local Government Area of Niger State and to find out the health risks associated with food poisoning in under five (0-5 years) in Lafiayaman Primary Health Centre, Kacha, Kacha Local Government Area of Niger State Furthermore, to examine the control measures of food poisoning among under five (0-5 years) in Lafiayaman Primary Health Centre, Kacha, Kacha Local Government Area of Niger State. Many medical and allied literatures were reviewed to develop more facts for the project work. This research use descriptive survey to sample mothes in Kacha Local Government using the Fisher’s Formula. Questionnaire was the instrument used to gather and analyze the data, 200 questionnaires were distributed out of which 200 were retrieved. Findings also revealed that about majority of respondents were aware of food poisoning and its effects. 84% agreed that food poisoning can cause death. In conclusion, recommendations were made that Governments should raise food safety as a public health priority, by establishing effective food safety systems to ensure that food producers and suppliers, throughout the food chain, act responsibly and provide safe food to consumers.
