Abstract
This study is on the impact of deposit money banks on small and medium scale business enterprises financing in Nigeria using First Bank Plc. The objectives of the studies are to examine the degree at which commercial banks' loans and advances have contributed to SMEs performance in growth and development in Kogi State, to evaluate the significant relationship between commercial banks and SMEs' performance in Nigeria's economy and to examine the impact of commercial bank credit on the performance of SMEs in Nigeria. The research design adopted in this study was descriptive method The major instrument used to gather data from primary source is the questionnaire. From a population of 40, a sample size of 36 respondents was selected using simple random technique. Findings revealed that deposit money banks in Nigeria facilitate small and medium enterprises and deposit money bank loans and advances contributed to small and medium enterprise performance, growth and development. It was recommended that deposit money banks should introduce method of motivating the small-scale business owners so as to encourage them and help them on how to obtain loans. Government must intervene by way of reducing high interest charged by banks in order to enhance loan repayments. ...
