This study examined 173 health information managers across three hospitals, using a sample size of 121 determined via Yamane Taro’s formula. It assessed social media utilization and quality assurance in health information practices through a survey questionnaire based on three research questions. The results found that 92.56% of managers agree social media enlightens health information management practice knowledge by enhancing information sharing and collaboration (66.12%), improving healthcare outcomes (57.85%), enabling research and education (66.12%) and improving patient communication (41.32%). However, the lack of social media guidelines (66.12%) and usage during work hours (61.9%) challenge quality assurance. Proposed solutions were peer reviews, patient feedback tools, social media policies and fact-checking. Statistical analysis revealed a significant relationship between usage and assurance, with a calculated chi-square value of 18.22 against a tabulated value of 3.84. Key recommendations are establishing guidelines and policies on professional social media utilization alongside implementing regular staff training sessions on quality assurance best practices for social media. This balanced approach allows for harnessing social media’s knowledge sharing power while upholding stringent health information management practice standards across virtual platforms. Managed properly, social media can become an accurate, secure and ethical tool for modern health information management....Preview Download Preview +Other Health Information Management project topics and materials you might be interested in»Analysis of filing system and consequences of misfiling»Impact of health information management in healthcare delivery»Evaluation of the problems and constraints facing health record keeping and professionals»Assessment of challenges of health information management practice in General Hospital Ilorin, Kwara State»Analysis of filing system and consequences of misfiling patients health records in University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, Kwara state»A study into causes of misfiling among health information management professionals in health records department - case study of University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, Kwara state»Factors militating against effective documentation in health care delivery system in University of Benin Teaching Hospital Benin City, Edo state»Evaluation of confidentiality of patient health records among hospital staff»Evaluation of patient appointment system - a case study of university of Ilorin teaching hospital»Effect of lack of health information computerization in the primary health care system»Impact of electronic medical records on patients waiting time in health care delivery system in Federal Medical Center, Asaba, Delta state»Causes and consequences of breach of confidentiality of patient health information in Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Lagos state»Impact of health statistics in the health care delivery system at University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, Ilorin, Kwara State»Evaluation of the importance of health information management in primary health care»Knowledge and perception of health information management professionals on electronic coding for quality clinical data in University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, Ilorin, Kwara state
