Knowledge and practice of prevention and control of diarrhea in under-five children among mothers in Akwa Etiti Department:Nursing Science By: godstimearinze Project ID: 7462 Rating: (5.0) votes: 1 Price:₦3000 Get the Complete MaterialAbstractThis study was carried out among Mothers in Akwa Etiti with the aim of determining the knowledge and practice of prevention and control of diarrhea in under-five children, and also to identify factors affecting mothers’ knowledge on prevention and control of diarrhea in under-five children. A cross-sectional descriptive survey design and a simple random sampling technique were used. A total of 120 self-administered Questionnaires were distributed, all were also retrieved and data were analyzed using mean scores, presented on tables and bar charts. Major findings were listed which include that (100%) of mothers have heard of under-five children's diarrhea and most mothers (71.67%) have knowledge of diarrheal disease. Most of the mothers (68.33%) take positive actions on the control of diarrhea in under-five and most mothers (74.17%) have a positive practice on the prevention of under-five children's diarrhea. The mothers (55.00%) believed that there are factors affecting their knowledge on the prevention on the and control of diarrhea in under-five children health education should be used as an effective tool to promote knowledge and good practice of mothers regarding diarrheal illness in children. Inclusion of the Rotavirus vaccine in the national immunization schedule will help in improving its coverage.
