It is descriptive research conducted on the student nurses of the School of Nursing, Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital. The objectives that guided the researcher are: to assess the level of knowledge of the student nurses in nurse-client relationship. To assess the nature of interaction between the student nurses and clients in NAUTH. To identify strategies for improving therapeutic relationships among students nurses and clients. The instrument used for data collection was an online questionnaire, it was distributed to the student nurses online (about 217) while (130 responses) were collected. The study shows that the student nurses understand what the nurse-patient relationship is and its importance to both them and the patients. It also shows that the relationship between the student nurses and their patients is a therapeutic relationship although they face a lot of challenges trying to maintain a therapeutic relationship with the patients. Recommendations were made to the nursing management to motivate the student nurses in order to improve the practice of therapeutic student nurse-patient relationships.
