Abstract
Communication is considered an essential tool for organizational performance and growth. Most businesses rely on effective communication with both customers and employees to improve sales and enhance business growth. Poor or ineffective communication normally leads to mismanagement of an organization and undesirable business results. This study sought to explore the impact of communication on the performances of employees. Communication was conceptualized into horizontal, downward, and upward communication forms and their influence on employee performance was determined based on data from 60 respondents who were employees at Cedar Wood and Umfahad Hotels Biu, Borno State. The survey research method was adopted for the study and the study relied much on primary data. Questionnaires were used as instruments for data collection. The sample size of 60 was determined using simple random sampling. The result from the findings indicates that there is a significant relationship between upward communication and employee performance. The study recommends management of the hotel should put effort into the interaction between the employees to the superiors in the hotel....
