The specific objectives of the study were to find out the level of research productivity of academics in Yusuf Maitama Sule University Kano ascertain the level of awareness of online subscription databases among YUMSUK academics examine the extent to which academics of YUMSUK of utilize online subscription databases identify the challenges militating against the proper utilization of online subscription databases by academics understudy determine the relationship between online subscription databases utilization and research productivity of academics understudy. Survey research design was adopted for the study. The population of the study comprised all 565 lecturers of YUMSUK. 226 lecturers from different departments of Yusuf Maitama Sule University were used as the sample size of the study. Questionnaire was used as data collection instrument. The collected data was analyzed using frequency, mean and standard deviation. The findings of the study revealed that the research productivity of YUMSUK academic staff is relatively moderate likewise their awareness level of online subscription databases is moderate. Furthermore, the study reported a positive relationship between the utilization of an online subscription database and the research productivity of academics of YUMSUK.
