The survey method which makes use of questionnaires as a research tool was adopted for the study. Data were sourced from 380 respondents in the department of mass communication, Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashi-Uku. The study was anchored on the cultivation theory. Five research questions were raised to guide the study. Findings revealed among others, that female mass communication students have negative attitudes towards advertising as a career, religion, cultural beliefs and discrimination against female folk dissuade them from taking to advertising upon graduation.
