Leadership is one of the most important factors that have a significant effect on the performance of personnel in an organization as well as the prospects or otherwise of every organization. The study was prompted by the current demotivation and loss of enthusiasm in personnel’s attitudes toward their work because of the prevailing leadership in the institution which directly affects their productivity. However, the main objective of this study is to examine the effect of leadership styles on personnel’s performance at Federal Polytechnic, Bali. To achieve the objective, data were sourced through both primary and secondary sources. The primary data sourced were analyzed using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) and the hypotheses were tested by Chi-square (X2) statistical tool. The findings of this study revealed the negative effect of the autocratic style of leadership on personnel’s performance, personnel’s performance is affected by the laissez-faire style of leadership, and the democratic leadership style has a significant effect on personnel’s performance. Therefore, it was concluded that the biggest challenge for leaders in Federal Polytechnic, Bali is their inability to use the ideal leadership style to co-opt and motivate personnel in order to achieve desired goals. However, the success of this highly depends on their interpersonal relationship and the personnel's willingness to cooperate with the prevailing leadership.
