Abstract
Cancer can start almost anywhere in the human body, which is made up of trillions of cells. This study aimed to examine the Assessment Of The Risk Factors Associated With Breast Cancer Among Pregnant Women In Kano State Metropolitan. A total of hundred (100) questionnaires were administered to the respondents and the data collected was analyzed using simple percentages. The findings of the study revealed that 49 respondents representing 49% indicate that A family history of breast cancer is the major risk factor associated with breast cancer among women in the Kano metropolis. The study also revealed that 50 respondents representing 50% indicate that Family history and genetics are the major causes of breast cancer among women in Kano metropolis. This research revealed that the majority of the respondents 40% indicate that Change in the size, shape, or appearance of a breast is one of major symptoms of breast cancer among women in the Kano metropolis. It was recommended that Every effort has to be taken to encourage positive behaviour towards exclusive breastfeeding during the first six months of life and subsequently till 24 months as this has a protective effect against breast cancer. Women with first degree relatives who have had breast cancer should be encouraged to go for breast screening (biopsy). Health care professionals including grassroots-level health care workers have to play a significant role in educating the public, especially high-risk women and the involvement of family and community should be facilitated. ...
