Abstract
This project aims to find out the causes and impact of the inefficiency of secretaries on organizational performance in the Federal High Court, Lokoja. To examine how the use of archaic record management systems affects the productivity of secretaries. To ascertain the importance of record management in an organization. The descriptive research design was used in this research work. The researcher use primary and secondary methods. The data collected were analyzed using mean scores in calculating the mean for various items. It was discovered that the method of filing findings used in the organization is the vertical system. The step and measure taken to ensure the safety of records is the use of cabinet drawers in most organizations instead of fireproof cabinets. In an interview, some of them said that, if the proof cabinet is released, some offices the money due to the fraudulent act and that in the case of an outbreak, the organization has no standing firefighters. The researcher therefore recommends that experts in filing record management must be employed and this will lead to up-to-date storing and retrieving of records. Operation and filing procedures must be limited to a few workers in the office. ...
