The study adopted descriptive survey research design, while the study population involved 123 health records professionals working in the study area, a sample size of 94 respondents was selected for the study. The Taro Yamane formula was used to draw out the sample size. The questionnaire was retrieved, and screened, and a frequency table and simple percentage were used for data analysis. The study revealed that constant work overload and extended work time due to shortages, frustration, aggression, and fire outbreaks within the workplace are various occupational hazards that affect health workers. This study affirmed that an unsafe working environment, occupational health and safety issues and unsatisfied interpersonal relationships at the workplace lead to occupational hazards and in turn, affect job performance. Based on the findings, the study recommends that every healthcare facility should be provided with appropriate equipment and materials to enable healthcare workers to carry out their jobs with minimum risks. In addition, regular education and training on safety practices at the workplace will lead to an improved workforce.
