The purpose of this is to explore the need for better retirement welfare and ensure prompt payment of retirement benefits. Descriptive survey design was adopted. A structured questionnaire was used to obtain data. Data were analyzed using the information obtained from the questionnaires used for the study. Aggregate scores were used to answer the research questions while chi-square was used to test the null hypotheses. The findings revealed that the majority of the retiring civil servants in Edo state have a positive attitude towards retirement. Also, females and married retirees significantly have more positive attitudes than male and single workers respectively. The study recommends among others that the government should do everything possible to sustain and improve the attitude of the civil servants towards retirement.
