Abstract
The study examines PARENTAL BACKGROUND AS THE PREDICTOR OF ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE AMONG JUNIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL IN NASSARAWA LGA KANO STATE. The findings aim to find out the impact of parental educational level on student academic performance among Junior Secondary School students in Nassarawa LGA Kano state. Determining the role of parental culture on academic performance among junior secondary schools in Nassarawa LGA Kano state. To assess the role of environment on students’ academic performance among junior secondary schools in Nassarawa LGA Kano state. And to find out the impact of parental background on academic performance among junior secondary school students based on gender. A total of one hundred and twenty (120) questionnaires were administered to the respondents and data collected was analyzed using simple table with percentages. The findings of the study revealed that most of the respondents (43.33%) believed that Students with educated parents tend to perform better academically due to effective parental support and guidance. This research work revealed that the majority of the respondents agreed that Cultural beliefs about education affect parental involvement in school activities and support for learning at home. Lastly, this study revealed that (43.33%) Agreed that Economic stability in the family allows students access to better schools and extracurricular activities, enhancing performance. It was recommended that Parents should be encouraged to actively participate in their children's education. Schools should organize workshops and seminars to educate parents on the importance of monitoring homework, attending school meetings, and creating a supportive learning environment at home. Governments and educational institutions should provide financial support for students from disadvantaged backgrounds....
