The shift from traditional to digital libraries has revolutionized access to information, allowing users to obtain academic resources remotely and at any time. This research investigates how the virtual library at Plateau State Polytechnic supports students and faculty by providing essential resources, including e-books, academic journals, and research databases, which are pivotal to academic success and research. The study employed a descriptive research design, using questionnaires to collect data from a sample of 50 respondents, consisting of students, faculty members, and library staff. Data were analyzed using both quantitative and qualitative methods to understand user satisfaction, usage frequency, and perceived challenges. The findings reveal that while the virtual library is widely used and valued, technical issues and limited access to certain resources hinder its full potential. The most accessed resources are e-books and academic journals, reflecting a high demand for text-based academic materials. Despite a positive satisfaction level among most users, the study identifies a need for expanded resources, improved technical support, and user training programs. Key recommendations include enhancing technical infrastructure, increasing the variety of accessible resources, and implementing regular training to improve user proficiency with digital resources. These improvements are essential for maximizing the library's role in supporting academic and research activities at Plateau State Polytechnic. This study contributes to the ongoing discourse on virtual libraries in educational institutions, highlighting the potential benefits and areas for improvement. It underscores the importance of addressing technical and accessibility challenges to enhance the virtual library's impact on information dissemination in a digital age. ...Preview Download Preview +Other Library and Information Science project topics and materials you might be interested in»Staff Motivation in Academic Libraries»The effect of social media on reading culture among students»Annotated bibliography on information and communication technology»Library catalogue utilization among students in academic libraries - a case study of Federal Polytechnic Idah library»Effects of poor implementation of collection development policy in academic libraries»Product marketing: a strategic step for libraries in the information age (a case study of Imo state library board, Owerri)»Awareness and utilization of electronic information resources by library and information science students (a case study of Nnamdi Azikiwe university, Awka) »Information needs and seeking behaviour of senior non-academic staff of Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Owerri»Information needs and information seeking behaviour of children in public libraries - a case study of Kwara State library board, Ilorin»Challenges of ICT applications in law libraries»The availability and utilization of modern information resources in teaching and learning in selected private secondary schools in Owerri metropolis»Challenges of the management of staff appraisal programme in the library of Imo state (a case study of Imo state university)»Annotated bibliography on English language»A study of the information needs of rural health workers in Ebikoro, Owerri north LGA of Imo state»Effects of library on the academic performances of students in tertiary institutions
