Despite the recognized importance of library resources in enhancing the learning environment, there is limited data on how effectively these resources are utilized in private schools within Bukuru, Jos South LGA, Plateau State. This study investigates the availability and utilization of school library resources by students and staff in selected private schools, identifies the challenges that hinder effective utilization, and proposes strategies for improvement. A descriptive survey research design was employed, and data were collected from a sample of 101 respondents drawn from the study population. Data collection was carried out using structured questionnaires, which were analyzed using descriptive statistics. Key findings reveal that traditional resources, such as textbooks and literature, are widely available, while digital resources, including e-books and internet access, are less accessible. The study also highlights that the primary purposes for library use are academic, with students utilizing library resources mainly for studying and educational purposes rather than recreational reading. However, significant challenges such as inadequate staffing, limited access hours, and a lack of current resources impede optimal utilization. Based on these findings, the study recommends enhancing library services through the employment of qualified librarians, extending library hours, updating resource collections, and integrating digital resources. The study concludes that, with targeted improvements, school libraries in Bukuru can play a more substantial role in supporting students'' academic and personal development. These recommendations serve as a foundation for future policies and practices aimed at maximizing the impact of school libraries on student learning outcomes.
