The research objectives were to determine the influence of self-awareness and self-regulation on leadership effectiveness in the university. A survey research design was employed, with a population of 1,650 academic staff and a sample size of 280 respondents selected using the Taro Yamane formula. Data were collected through structured questionnaires and analyzed using regression analysis. The findings revealed that both self-awareness and self-regulation have a significant positive influence on leadership effectiveness, with self-regulation exhibiting a stronger effect. Based on these results, the study recommends that the university management prioritize leadership development programs focused on enhancing emotional intelligence competencies, particularly self-regulation skills, through targeted training and coaching. Additionally, regular assessments should be conducted to identify and address gaps in self-awareness and self-regulation among leaders. Future research could expand the scope by including additional emotional intelligence variables or exploring other sectors.
