Abstract
This study examined the impact of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) on the organizational performance of Money Deposit Banks (MDBs) in Nigeria. The research objectives were to assess the effects of economic responsibility, legal responsibility, and ethical responsibility on organizational performance. A quantitative research design was employed, utilizing secondary data from annual reports, sustainability disclosures, and financial statements of selected banks over a five-year period (2020–2024). The sample consisted of six Money Deposit Banks, and data were analyzed using regression analysis. The findings revealed that legal responsibility had a marginally significant and positive effect on organizational performance, while ethical responsibility showed a positive but statistically insignificant impact. Economic responsibility had the weakest and least significant effect on performance. The study concluded that compliance with legal standards is critical for enhancing bank performance, whereas ethical and economic dimensions of CSR require strategic alignment to yield measurable benefits. Based on these findings, the study recommended that Money Deposit Banks in Nigeria strengthen their legal compliance frameworks, promote a culture of integrity and transparency, and align CSR initiatives with core business strategies to maximize both social impact and organizational performance. Additionally, policymakers and regulatory bodies should enforce stricter compliance mechanisms to ensure banks adhere to legal and ethical standards, thereby fostering sustainable growth in the banking sector....
