The population of students, employed, unemployed, married and single were used randomly. The probability sampling technique was adopted and Questionnaires, tables, percentage, and literary explanations were used to gather and analyze data got from the field. It was also discovered that political advertising is vital in elections, this is because it has a major effect on the choices electorates made as was discovered in the work, despite the prevailing political tension and environment during the 2019 governorship election period.75.5% of the respondents said that their choice of governorship candidate was influenced by their exposure to political adverts. Radio too was discovered to be the most accessible and most influential medium of political advertising in Imo State. Emeka Ihedioha’s political advert was discovered to be the most influential advert as 38.8% said their choices were influenced by their exposure to political adverts. Also, the quest to destroy the god-father system in Imo State by the immediate past governor was also discovered to be an influencing factor on people’s choice of governorship candidate.
