Abstract
The focal point of this research work is to identify the contributions of the multinational companies to their host communities, using AGIP Company Port- Harcourt as a case study. The problems identified in this study include lack of social amenities such as good roads, good pipe-borne water equipped health services hospitals staffed with qualified people with inspectors coming around to inspect them regularly, frequent power supply (electricity), as well air pollution in the area, which had caused untold hardship to the people. Thus the general objective of this study was to find out the extent to which the AGIP Company has performed its social responsibilities to its host community. The total population of the employee was five hundred and fifty two(552) and the research stated sample size of two hundred and thirty two(232) both primary and secondary data were collected. Instrument used to collect primary data were personal interviews, observations and administration of the questionnaires. Secondary data were collected from textbooks, Journals, magazines, newspapers and libraries. The research findings of this project work reviewed that. The chi-square (x2) statistical tool was used to state the hypothesis formulated. The research findings here reviewed that social responsibility programmes are necessary. It is recommended that the AGIP Company should increase and expand its social responsibility programmes and government should help in the development of the communities in which most multinational companies exist. ...
