A child is the future of a nation. Protein–energy malnutrition (PEM) is one of the most important health issues all over the world especially in developing countries where this is responsible for increased morbidity and mortality predominantly in children under five years of age. And the knowledge of PEM is score among mothers with children under five years in Nigeria. In Benue State, Nigeria, research was carried out on the prevalence of PEM among children 0-5 years and it was noted that 4.6% of children were found to have low weight for height while 54.8% of the malnourished children belong to mothers who were illiterates. From this study, it was found that the level of knowledge of protein-energy, malnutrition among mothers with children under five years in Ubi-egbe is low this is due to the low level of education among mothers.
