Abstract
This paper examines the impact of bank verification number (BVN) on the operation of commercial banks in Nigeria. The bank verification number (BNV) is a biometric identification system implemented by the central bank of Nigeria to curb or reduced illegal banking transactions in Nigeria. The major objectives of the study are to examine the effect of fraud in the banking sector, to evaluate the impact of bank verification number (BVN) on the operation of commercial banks in Nigeria and to examine the role of bank verification number (BVN) in reducing fraud in the banking industry. Fidelity Bank Plc was chosen as a case study out of which so was adopted as the population. In order to determine the simple size, the Yaro-Yamen formula was used of which 66 was gotten as the simple size. Sixty-six questionnaires were administered out of which sixty were retrieved and properly filled. The percentage method was used to present and analysis the data while the chi-square method was adopted in testing the hypothesis stated. Based on the finding made, the researcher deduced the following the strong relation exist between BVN service and efficient banking operation, that the use of BVN is an effective tool for the development of the banking sector in bank verification number has helped in the reduction of fraud in banks and finally that the use of BVN is an effective tool for the development of banking sector....
