Performance of rabbits fed diet containing graded levels of sweet detar (Detarium Microcarpum) fruit meal Department:Animal Nutrition By: Johngrey Project ID: 6366 Rating: (5.0) votes: 1 Price:₦3000 Get the Complete MaterialAbstractA total of thirty (30) mixed breed rabbits of both sexes weighing 1.00kg on average were used for the study. Five experimental diets were formulated and designated D1, D2 D3, D4 and D5. D1 was the control diets, sweet detar back and pulp meal was involved in diet D2, D3 D4, and D5 at 5%, 10%, 15% and 20% respectively (see table 3.1). Dry matter (DM) content of the meal was highest in the seed coat (91.83) and least in the pulp (88.05%). Crude protein (CP) ranged from 2.26% (mixture of bark and pulp) to 14.48% (seed). Crude fiber was highest in the seed coat (57.54%). Ether extract was highest in the seeds (11.29%). There were no significant (P0.05) differences in all the performance parameters measured numerical differences were recorded. The highest final body weight was recorded in T3 (1834.00g), while T1, T2, T4 and T5 had 1560.00g, 1676.67g, 1704.00g and 1603.33g respectively. The highest final body weight was recorded in T3 (1834.00g), while T1, T2, T4 and T5 had 1560.00g, 1676.67g, 1704.00g and 1603.33g respectively. Average daily weight gain was highest in T3 (15.27) while it was lowest (12.04) in the control (T1) and average daily feed intake was highest in T (120.20) while it was lowest (100.65) in T1, feed conversion ratio was also highest (8.43) in T1while it was lowest in T4 (7.40). Protein intake was highest in T3 (16.90) and had a lower value in T1 (15.73) while protein efficiency was higher (0.90) in T4 while T1 (0.77). ...Preview Download Preview +Other Animal Nutrition project topics and materials you might be interested in»Performance response of feedlot Bunaji Bulls to dietary inclusion of Thaumatococcus Daniellii leaf meal»Effect of feeding frequency on nutrient digestibility of west african dwarf goats»Carcass characteristics of rabbit-fed diet containing graded levels of dried cabbage (Brassica oleracea) leaf residues»Performance of rabbits fed diet containing graded levels of sweet detar (Detarium Microcarpum) fruit meal»Apparent nutrient digestibility of growing pigs fed graded levels of cassava peels meal supplemented with probiotics (lactic dry)»Carcass performance and organ weight characteristics of f1 progenies of fulani ecotype and frizzled feather crossbred with Arbor Acre chickens
