Soil samples were taken at the bed of the pond at a depth of 0-5cm, the samples were air-dried, crushed and sieved to pass through a 2mm sieve for laboratory analysis. The sampling points were taken in the fish pond with the following coordinates shown in Table 1. In-situ measurements for temperature, pH dissolved oxygen, salinity, total dissolved solids and electrical conductivity were recorded using the appropriate meters. The samples were poured into appropriately labeled 2-litre plastic containers for physio-chemical analyses. Only water lily was identified in the pond. There was no diversity of Aquatic weed species in the pond. Continuous use of agrochemicals especially pesticides and herbicides around the pond could probably be responsible for this. ...Preview Download Preview +Other Plant Breeding and Seed Science project topics and materials you might be interested in»Influence of soil properties on weed occurrence in a tropical pond in Makurdi»Effect of farming activities on occurence and diversity of aquatic weeds in a seasonal pond in Makurdi, Benue state»Effect of different population densities on the productivity of soybean (TGX1987-10f) (Glycine max (L) Merill) in Makurdi
