This study was guided by the following objectives To investigate the benefit of rural roads in Nigerian and to examine the economic cost and maintenance of rural road construction in Nigeria and also to identify the importance of rural roads to the agricultural sector in Nigeria. The study employed descriptive tools and explanatory design questionnaires in addition to library research applied in order to collect data. Primary and secondary data sources were used and data were analyzed using the chi-square statistical tool at 5% level of significance which was presented in frequency tables and percentages. The study finding revealed that the type one hypothesis reveals that transport plays a leading role in socio-economy development and there is a need for adequate transport before development can take place in the rural areas while the type two hypothesis revealed that transport plays a dominant role in the socio-economy of the rural areas.
