Abstract
The aim of this project is to carry out a comparative study between Samaila Ashhabu Isah Compressive Strength Testing Machine (SAI-HUKP) and conventional crushing machines in terms of concrete compressive strength. The laboratory tests conducted on the materials obtained include Sieve Analysis (particle size distribution), aggregate impact value, aggregate crushing value, specific gravity and slump test. Concrete cubes were cast using a mix ratio of 1:1:2.5 for grade M30, 1:1.1:2.8 for grade M40 and 1:1.2:3.1 for grade M50 and were subjected to compressive strength test using the conventional crushing machine and the SAI-HUKP machine. The result shows that concrete cubes produced with concrete grade M30 have a compressive strength of 29.21N/mm2 and 24.65N/mm2 for both the conventional and SAI-HUKP Machines respectively, while the cubes produced with M40 have 40.4N/mm2 and 49.72N/mm2 respectively, and finally, the cubes produced using grade M50 have 57.2N/mm2 and 58.74N/mm2 respectively. The result was compared and proved accurate. It is recommended that the SAI-HUKP machine should be used in finding compressive strength because it is more accurate and less time-consuming....
