The research adopted a survey method of research and questionnaires were used as an instrument for primary data collection, while secondary data was collected from the exploitation of past works on the same field of study. System theory was employed as the theoretical system for the study. The population for the study consists of 100 scheduled and unscheduled workers of the Nasarawa State Civil Service Commission. Stratified random sampling technique was adopted to determine the sample size for the study. Simple percentage method of data analysis was employed for data analysis of the collected data from the respondents. Findings from the study revealed among others that political influence constraints the development process of the Nasarawa State Civil Service Commission, and that the majority of the appointments into the Nasarawa State civil service are influenced by politicians. The study therefore recommends that there is a need to get rid of the godfatherism syndrome, nepotism and favoritism so that the appointment process should be done by the commission alone.
