Cooperative is derived from the Latin word“operare” (to work) and the prefix“co (together) cooperative has also been defined in terms of people working together in any form of social or economic venture. A cooperative is an autonomous association of persons united voluntarily to meet their common economic, social and cultural needs and aspiration through a jointly owned and democratically controlled enterprise. A well structure questionnaire was distributed to 67 randomly selected retired civil servants in Anuoluwakitan Cooperative Credit Society, Arometa Ibadan. All the questionnaires were returned back by the researcher. Data were analyzed using SPPS. The result revealed that most of the civil servants had benefited from the society in one way or the other which had greedily impacted their small businesses. Though cooperative organizations serve as an effective tool by their nature to build economic self-reliance among members, this study further revealed that most of the businesses run by the respondents is been funded through loans from cooperative organizations. For testing the hypothesis, Chi-square method was used. The result of the hypothesis tested showed that cooperative has a positive impact in promoting the economic well-being of the members including the retired civil servant members.
