The research problem stems from the escalating prevalence of substance use among students, with potential consequences on academic performance and overall well-being. The study aims to assess the extent of this influence, identify types and prevalence of substances, explore motivations behind students'' engagement in substance use, and propose targeted interventions. Adopting a cross-sectional survey design, data were collected through structured questionnaires from 319 students. Results reveal a significant influence of substance use on concentration, classroom participation, assignment completion, and overall attendance. Alcohol and marijuana emerge as prevalent substances, driven by peer pressure, academic stress, and social acceptance. The study concludes that urgent intervention programs are needed to address these challenges, encompassing educational campaigns, counseling services, and policy enforcement. Limitations include administrative constraints on randomization. Future research should explore long-term effects and family/community influences on substance use.
