In order to give perspective to the study, objectives and corresponding research questions were developed. Survey research design was adopted by the researcher. The researcher therefore collected primary and secondary data using published literature on the subject matter. The population of the study was 5,198,716 which comprised of indigents and non-indigent citizens of Rivers State. Data collected through the published literature were analyzed. Findings showed that the sources of television stories on rape cases in Nigeria were ascertained to be more newspapers that the volumes of television stories on follow-up stories on rape cases in Nigeria were also examined that the prominence of television stories on rape cases in Nigeria were examined and that the perceptions of the public over television rape case report in Nigeria were ascertained as matter of fact. The study concluded that the law of the federal republic of Nigeria criminalizing violence against women such as rape is ineffective and non-forcible, and most bills initiated by non-governmental organizations on violence against women are still pending.
