Abstract
The impact of social media on student’s information and learning outcomes’ was a study of School of Health Information Management, Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital Nnewi. The statement of problem identified the existence of poor student’s information and learning outcomes from social media usage. The general purpose of the study was to investigate the impact of social media on students learning outcomes.  Descriptive research design was used. The population of the study was 185 and the sample size is 126. The methods of data collection include observation, interview and questionnaire. The supervisor validated the questionnaire and for reliability test/ retest method was used to test the instrument. 126 questionnaires were administered to 126 respondents. 6 were mutilated and 120 questionnaires were collected for analysis. Simple percentage was used in the analysis. 5 research questions were asked. The findings from the study show that, 30(25%) said No. 70(58%) said yes that social media has benefit while 50(42%) said No, 85(71%) said yes that the challenges of social media include poor policy and insecurity while 25(29%) said No. The alternative hypothesis was accepted as calculated value of 7.5 is greater than tabulated value 3.54 at 0.5 degree of freedom and it states that there is a relationship between students and learning outcomes. The researcher considered all the above findings from analysis of Research questions and hypothesis and recommended that students should use registered subscriber identity module(SIM), join educational platforms to enhance academic outcomes and use social media networks only at leisure time....
