It is the most commonly diagnosed cancer amongst Nigerian men and a major cause of morbidity and mortality. OBJECTIVES: To access the level of awareness on prostate cancer and prostate cancer screening amongst men aged 40 years and above in Nkwo Nnewi market, Nnewi, Anambra State, Nigeria. METHOD: This cross-sectional survey was conducted among men aged 40 years or older. Data was collected using a pretested interview administered questionnaire among 330 men. Results were analyzed using SPSS version 25.0 RESULTS: A total of 330 men were interviewed. Their mean age was 47.98 years range 40 - 69. Overall, 80% of the respondents were aware of the existence of Prostate cancer. Whereas 30.3% were aware of PSA screening, only 11.2% had undergone PSA screening ever, with 7.9% having screened within the year preceding the study. CONCLUSION: Despite a high awareness of prostate cancer among men in Nkwo Nnewi Market Nnewi in Anambra State, Nigeria, a small proportion of these men had undergone PSA screening.
