Abstract
Childhood obesity is a growing public health challenge globally, including in developing countries like Nigeria. This study assessed and compared the prevalence and influencing factors of obesity among primary school children in urban and rural areas of Anambra State. The cross-sectional study used a quantitative research design. A multi-stage sampling technique was employed to select participants from primary schools across urban and rural areas. Logistic regression analysis rejected the null hypotheses, indicating a significant influence of socioeconomic status, unhealthy dietary habits and low physical activity levels on childhood obesity risk. The study highlights the double burden of malnutrition in Anambra, with a higher prevalence of obesity in urban children linked to socioeconomic and lifestyle factors. Tailored interventions promoting healthy eating and active living are recommended....
