This study defined quacks as individuals dishonestly claiming specialized medical knowledge and skills they do not possess, fraudulently or ignorantly pretending expertise. A descriptive survey method was employed, targeting staff from the HIM Department at NAUTH Nnewi. With a population of 122, a sample size of 93 was determined using Taro Yamane''''s formula. Data collection utilized a validated questionnaire, and analysis involved simple percentages and chi-square testing. Findings revealed 98% of respondents were aware of quackery and untrained personnel in HIM practices. 88% agreed it leads to a negative professional image, while 79% acknowledged its detrimental impact on the profession''s value and growth. Lack of skill training and development was cited as a primary cause by 83% of respondents, posing risks not only to patients but also to healthcare providers, hospitals, and communities. Ensuring authentic credentials of HIM personnel was proposed as a solution by 79% of respondents. Hypothesis testing indicated a significant relationship between quackery, manpower training, and HIM practices, with a calculated chi-square value of 6.491 and a tabulated value of 5.991 at a 0.05 significance level.
