The study found that a hundred percent (100%) of the respondents were exposed to television advertisements. The study further revealed that a great number of the respondents did not guide their children when watching television advertisements. The study also indicated that the majority (78%) of the children practice what they watch from television advertisements. Among the anti-social behaviors stated by the respondents are increased childhood eroticism, increased urge to practice sex, impulsive buying/ materialism, violence/ aggressive behaviour, eating disorders, tobacco and alcoholism. The study, thereby emphasized the need for parents to give their children media education to help them become less susceptible to the bad effects of television advertisements and therefore, recommended among others that Parents should always monitor their children while watching television as this will go a long way in sanitizing them in what they take into their brains.
