Abstract
The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of self-appraisal on employee performance at Nigerian Army University Biu, Borno State. The research was geared towards determining the effect of feedback mechanism, goal setting and development and planning on employee performance in Nigerian Army University Biu. The study adopted quantitative research design, and questionnaires were used to collect data for the study. The population in this research was 353 teaching employees at Nigerian Army University Biu. A total of 188 respondents were sampled and multiple regression analysis and descriptive statistics were used to analyze the 188 respondents with the aid of Statistical Packages for Social Sciences (SPSS). The research findings reveal that the feedback mechanism positively and significantly affects employee performance in Nigerian Army University Biu, while goal setting and development planning negatively and insignificantly affect employee performance in NAUB. The conclusion of the study shows that the variables of the feedback mechanism have positive and significant effects on employee performance while the variables of goal setting and development planning have negative and insignificant effects on employee performance in Nigerian Army University Biu. The study recommends that the management of NAUB should emphasize development and planning and also prioritize self-appraisal on employees to foster their performance. ...
