The retrieved data was analyzed in percentage (%) with the use of a frequency table. The study targeted population was undergraduate students which comprised 980 students, out of which 274 were sampled. The study revealed that the types of search engines used by undergraduate students for information retrieval were Google which is the most popular choice, followed by Google Scholar, Bing, DuckDuckGo, Yahoo, and Wikipedia. The findings also show that undergraduate students primarily use search engines for academic purposes like finding relevant resources and understanding specific topics, The study found that undergraduate students heavily rely on search engines, The findings reveal that undergraduate students leverage on search engines heavily, primarily for academic pursuits and personal exploration, while also utilizing them to find scholarships and stay informed, with a significant portion using them daily, The findings also revealed that the undergraduate students experience various challenges with search engines, including information overload, difficulty evaluating source credibility, and limited access to resources due to cost or language barriers. Based on the findings, implementing solutions like training on information evaluation, strategies for managing information volume, and promoting open access resources could help address the challenges undergraduate students experience when using search engines. In view of this, it was recommended that management should encourage the use of search engines for academic purposes by integrating search engine skills into courses and assignments.
