This project is aim to evaluate the performance of concrete containing GGBS and MK, determined the properties concrete containing GGBS. GGBS helps to decrease greenhouse gas emission in to the atmosphere. It releases in the atmosphere is increasing day by day due to OPC production. In this connection, ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBS) whose production does not release such gases, is needed in the production of concrete. GGBS concrete will be introduced as an alternative concrete which uses only certain percentage of cement in its mixture and Metakaolin which is kept constant at 10 percent. During this investigation the properties of the concrete materials were found and they are all within the standard. The GGBS concrete specimens were casted and tested in the laboratory for compressive strength, direct tensile and flexural test of 7 Days and 28 days and cured at ambient temperature. The percentage of GGBS was varied from 0% to 50% at 5% interval. After the investigation we discovered that the compressive strength increases with the increase of GGBS percentage up to 30% and decreases drastically with further increase of GGBS thereafter. It was also found that the workability of the concrete increases as the percentage of GGBS increases. It is also observed that flexural and tensile strength decreased as GGBS content increase....Preview Download Preview +Other Civil Engineering project topics and materials you might be interested in»Comparing the compressive strength of concrete made with sand as fine aggregate and with chipping dust as fine aggregate»The comparative study of the compressive strength of concrete made with granite to that made with river round stone (pebble) and local stone»The use of computer in civil engineering»Importance of timber in civil engineering construction»Construction and Installation of a Panel Door»Construction of wardrobe key study on wood work»Effect of street trading on traffic performance and control»Assessment of different types of foundation and their mode of construction»Comparison of soil bearing capacity of different locations in Imo state»Investigation into the suitability of sand and gravel materials commonly used in building construction»Investigating the effect of partial replacement of cement with eggshell powder in concrete production»An investigation in to the causes of cracks in building and possible solutions - a case study of Kukar Gesa community in Katsina metropolis»Determination of the causes, effects of environmental pollution and its possible control within Kwara and Osun state»Suitability of available laterite material in Ilorin East local government area for road construction»Model for prediction of rainfall intensity in Lagos
