Abstract
The study is on Assessment of the impact of using multimedia in teaching geography at tertiary institutions of Kano State. case study of geography department, Sa’adatu Rimi College of Education, Kumbosto. The objectives of the study are to identify types of multimedia use in teaching Geography at higher level of education, to assess the impact of using multimedia in teaching Geography as a course in tertiary institutions of learning and to identify challenges of using multimedia in tertiary level of education. The study adopted the use of the study adopted survey research design the population of the study consisted of staff and students of Geography department, with a total number of 3620, the sample size of the study stands at 244, simple random sampling technique was used in selecting the sample size of the study. Questionnaire was used in collecting data in the study. The reliability index of the instruments will be ascertained using the test-retest method. The reliability coefficients between the two administrations of the instruments will be around 0.67. the study has the following findings, That the finding reveals that both audio visual and printed Multimedia are been use in teaching Geography at tertiary institution of learning, that multimedia has impacted on the academic performance of students in tertiary institution of learning especially Sa’adatu Rimi College of Education, that the issue of power supply and lack of Government interest in the area of using digital materials and the study has the following recommendation. That Corporate bodies and non-governmental organizations should adopt and implement the use of multimedia training as part of their social responsibility program....
