Abstract
The study was designed to explore the predisposing factors of maternal mortality in AKTH Kano. The specific objectives of the study were to identify the common causes of maternal mortality in Tarauni to assess the healthcare services and facilities available for maternal care in selected hospitals to explore the socio-cultural and economic factors that contribute to maternal mortality in the area. The literature was reviewed in line with the objective of the study. The target population of the study is patients from Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital Kano, out of which 100 were randomly selected and participated in the survey, providing valuable insights into their perspectives and experiences. Questionnaires were used as data collection instruments. The collected data was analyzed using frequency count and percentages. The findings of the study revealed socio-economic barriers and cultural beliefs as potential contributors to maternal mortality in Tarauni, warranting further investigation into specific causes and healthcare service adequacy....
